View monitor port traffic in real time.
In 2011 the judging panel of the Geoportail contest, which recognises and rewards the most innovative uses of data and programming techniques promulgated by the National Geographical Institute (IGN), awarded first prize to Bordeaux Port Atlantique in the category ‘Accessibility and Mobility’ for the port’s real-time traffic monitoring programme. Selected from a list of over 60 nominees, the Port of Bordeaux once again demonstrated its proficiency in marine computing and satellite technology, already illustrated by the successful security programme launched to protect Airbus barges carrying aircraft components on the river Garonne. The winning software allows users to display real-time information on ships, including their load status, location and predicted mooring time. The IGN data ensures that location details are precise and practical.
