Visit the Port

UNDER THE INTERNATIONAL SHIP AND PORT FACILITY SECURITY (ISPS) CODE THE FACILITIES OF THE PORT OF BORDEAUX AUTHORITY ARE NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

However, the Port of Bordeaux regularly organises free tours during special occasions and events, such as Bordeaux Fête le Fleuve or the European Heritage Days.

The port has also established a partnership with the Bordeaux Tourist Office to organise an afternoon tour of the Bassens terminal and the Marina once a month.

PUBLIC TOURS

Under a partnership with the Bordeaux Tourist Office, bus tours are offered once a month. After a brief review of the history of the Port (passing along the left bank quays), visitors will see the Bassens terminal, where most cargo is handled: timber, cereals, oil seeds, aggregates, industrial bulk, recycled materials, gas, oils, containers, biofuels, heavy lift cargo and more. The site's activities, spread over more than 3km of docks, are extremely varied and represent one-third of the total annual traffic of the port of Bordeaux.

On the way back, visitors will stop in the Bassins à Flot area to learn about a unique site marked by a solid industrial and port identity. During a stop at the Maison du Projet, visitors will hear about ongoing and future projects (La Cité du Vin, housing, boating and ship repair activities, etc.).

Once a month

  • Depart at 14.00 from the Bordeaux Tourist Office / Return at 18.00 to the Bordeaux Tourist Office
  • Price: €22

SCHOOL TRIPS

Tours can be arranged for students in specialised sectors (transport, logistics)

Groups should contact the communication department at communication@bordeaux-port.fr and hire their own bus for the tour (25 people max). Tours last around 2 hours, including a visit to the harbour master’s office, a film about the port, and a bus tour of the Bassens terminals.
